Fowl Cay Vaca

A few weeks ago we took a family vacation to the Exuma, Bahamas, specifically a small island called Fowl Cay, consisting of about seven houses and a main house for meals. James and I decided we should try to take the boys, well only if under the condition that Pie and Pal would join us. I cannot tell you what a good idea that was :)

It was Holden's first plane trip, Lane's second. They did great. It was an easy Montgomery to Atlanta, Atlanta to Nassau trip. We then took a charter from Nassau to Staniel Cay, then a boat picked us up for the last leg. Sounds like a lot, but thankfully it went smoothly. The hardest part was the charter flight as it was very loud and hot, and by that time they were over the excitement of flying. 

Once we arrived it was gorgeous! Bluest water I have ever seen! 

This was our view of the dock from the side porch. Each house was given a little boat to use to explore the surounding islands. Perfection.

Each day we would ride by "pig beach" to see the pigs. They were enormous, the one above was one of the smaller ones. They would swim right up to your boat hoping for a treat.

This denotes our typical day--find a pretty spot, park the boat, play in the sand, eat our picnic lunch and then head back to the house for naps and swimming. Pretty relaxing.

Headed to dinner at the Hill house--we took the boys the first night, yikes. Lane fell through the chair, Holden pulled his place setting off the table. They both threw rice everywhere. It was a disaster. We learned quickly a dinner delivery to the house was the way to go!

They loved swimming...by the end of the week they were fearless! Holden says, "I jump!" " I go under!" and he meant it...you had better be ready because there was no holding him back

It was one of the most relaxing vacations ever, and with a 3 and 1 year old that is saying something. 

We are so thankful for fun family memories and adventures!

CABO Meeting/Vaca

Last week, James and I headed with the our friends, Brett and Kate to Cabo San Lucas. 

Our purpose was two fold, dental meetings and RELAXATION

We stayed at a resort called Las Ventanas al Paraiso, definitely one of the nicest places we have ever been

One of my favorite parts of any vacation is breakfast in your room or in this case, on your patio. Something about wearing your bathrobe as you enjoy fresh pastries and coffee is heavenly.

The resort was stunning at night....think candles, twinkling lights, etc. everywhere

One highlight was the authentic Mexican Fiesta night on the beach...

it was gorgeous....an example of how detailed this resort is is that they landscape the sand. every morning all the sand is freshly raked and sculpted to say something or for decorative purpose. you can't really tell in this picture but they had "steps" in the sand that led to our table. also fire pits in the sand...

Desserts, I might have tried everyone :)

Good Morning Cabo

One of the best parts of the trip was the weather...80 and sunny every day

Another cool thing was it was whale season, and we saw whales right off the beach multiple times a day. They would blow this horn and that meant look up, a whale is jumping!

14 weeks and 13 weeks,  respectively 

Brett took James on a fishing trip to try to catch a big game fish (one of his bucket list items)

They BOTH caught stripped Marlin and were very happy campers. Above is James's fish

they said these seals would swim up to the back of your boat and beg for food

The only negative to the vacation was three of us (excluding James) had a stomach bug for a day...not sure if it was something we ate or something we took with us as ALL of Selma, including my two had it this past week. (by the way BIG THANKS to Pie and Pal for not only babysitting, but babysitting kiddos with the stomach bug)

New York, New York

James and I decided what better to give each other for Christmas than a Christmas trip to NYC. We have been planning this for awhile with our friends the Calames. Getting there was a little crazy--they cancelled our flight in Atl, rerouted us to Pittsburgh, then cancelled the Pittsburgh to New York flight due to poor visibility. Oh well, we made the best of it (think Embassy Suite complimentary cocktails) and when we did finally arrive in NYC a day late, we hit the ground running!

this depicts one of my favorite parts of the trip--listening to Lee talk to the cab drivers...they were not so sure about his southern friendliness, he asked questions such as: Do you like Ford or Chevy? Have you ever hit a pedestrian? Where are you from, let me guess India? Always entertaining!

on Friday, we split from the guys and we went shopping! This was my favorite decor, Cartier...

we had our makeup done at Saks

it was alot of fun to get off our feet for a second and get pampered...love Kea's red lips!!

Friday afternoon we had tickets for Top of the Rock, even though the weather was rainy, we had a beautiful view

I highly recommend to see 360 views of the city

after dinner we hit Rockefeller center to see the tree

It was as glorious as you see in the movies

James and I had drinks at our hotel's Rooftop bar, great view of the Empire State Building

Saturday was freezing, but we weren't wasting time...we had brunch at Balthazar, strolled around SoHo, and then headed to Central Park

next up was Matilda the Musical

It was one of my favorite musicals of all time. It was so clever and funny. The kids singing were incredible. If you ever get the chance, GO!!

We capped off Saturday night with a delicious dinner at Grammercy Tavern. We visited here last time, but did not do the tasting menu. We were blessed to get last minute reservations and enjoyed a long leisurely dinner. (after watching the Auburn game, we were ready to  celebrate!!) 

It was awesome, my favorite were the desserts of course!

We stayed at the Refinery Hotel in Midtown. It was a pleasant surprise. James had found it online. It just opened this year, and everything was new and fresh. It is in a renovated factory building in the garment district. Very cool, restoration hardware vibe. Tall ceilings, black and white tile, and great service. Good price point too...

our last morning we headed to Bryant Park Holiday Market

Ha! These guys were great sports and made the trip so much fun!!!
