Good News

Isaiah 61 1-3, 10

1The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has annointed me
to preach good news to the poor, He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives, and release from darkness the prisoners.
2to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God
to comfort all who mourn
3and provide for those who grieve in Zion-to bestow a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a garment of praise, instead a spirit of dispair.
skipping to 10
I delight in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns her self with jewels

I know I have shared this scripture before, but God is continually revealing and ministering to me with it. In my Bible Study we are studying the book Captivating, and this was in our chapter last night. Verse 10 is my prayer during this easter season...I am full of joy in the Lord, for he has saved me and clothed me in his righteousness. I am his bride! I am thankful for not only his death and resurrection, but for freedom that can only be found through Him. I rejoice in His active presence in my life.

Copper Kitchen

I am loving copper kitchen hoods lately... Everytime I see them in a magazine, online, or in a kitchen (my cousin Debbie's in California), I take notice. Here are some examples...

still very elegant
love the exposed beams

love it with the brick

Even copper sinks are beautiful...not sure about the maintenance though?

What do you think?

Books

I just ordered a few new ones that I am excited about...

For all Francine Rivers fans out there, her newest novel was released this week. The best part is that a sequel will be soon to follow. Her Mark of the Lion series is still one of my all-time favorites.

The latest Maisie Dobbs, my favorite mystery series
The latest by Karen Kingsbury, Take Three
If you are like me you feel like you know all of the Baxter family and extended characters very well. These books are good for an easy read with a Christian perspective.

If anyone wants to borrow them when I finish, just let me know!

Play Date...

This past weekend Amos had a play date with my friend Maggie's puppy Duke. Duke is a beautiful 12 week old yellow lab. He weighs 22 pounds to Amos's 60. Despite this, I think they did pretty well together. I know they are going to bestest friends just like their mama's. (Well if Amos will stop pouncing on Duke)

(please excuse our au naturale look, I don't think either of us had showered that day)

trying really hard to get a good picture

as close as they would sit together :)

glimpse of how Duke would "hide" from Amos

Duke figured out Amos could not reach him under there

Amos, worn out!

I can't wait for them to get together in about another 2 months when Duke will give Amos a dose of his own medicine.

Other random things....Does anyone else watch Amerian Idol? James and I are getting more into it now that they are down to top 12. I am a Didi, Crystal, and Casey fan. James loves the Siobhan girl and Casey.

I ordered a new pair of running shoes today! I am SO excited...I have been an Asics fan for about 2 years now. I don't even have to try them on anymore, I just order the latest model of the ones I love. Here they are... (you know they are good when you don't even care what they look like, just what they feel like)

Lake Tahoe

We had a wonderful trip to Sacremento and Lake Tahoe. It was my first time to Tahoe, and James's first time to California. The day before we got there it snowed 18 inches (and we had been worried about having enough snow to ski) . Lake Tahoe is beautiful, a large blue lake with the backdrop of snow covered mountains all around the perimeter. James and I enjoyed skiing together, and we both didnt hurt anything! We stayed with my cousins from California, the Grutzmachers. It was great to get to visit and spend time with them as we don't get to as often as we would like. The ending was bittersweet however, because my great uncle Don fell the day we left. He passed away this Monday. I am so glad that we got to see him one last time. We sat around the dinner table Saturday night hearing him tell stories of my grandparents and all of the fun times they had. He was a wonderful man, and will be missed greatly. Please be praying Dick, Debbie, Doug and Annie....
