First Day of School

Lane started Little Friends two year old class today. Holden started the toddler class with Miss Cindy. Lane walked in like a champ to see "Fost" his best friend and play with "fire twuck".

Lane was so excited about his "owange" backpack like Curious George's.
Holden had a rough morning. He DID NOT like his shoes.

I took them off but he was still upset, poor buddy.
He brightened up when I walked them in, and then fell apart again when I left.
I am counting down until I pick them up at 12:00 :)

ATL Weekend

Last weekend we took a quick trip to Atlanta...the timing was perfect with everything else going on, it was a good getaway with friends
Brett (aka Dr. Wood, aka Wood Orthodontics if you or your child ever needs Ortho, he is the best!)
took us all to a Braves game on Friday night. I had not been in awhile and they were on a winning streak, so it was fun. I pulled for Justin Upton, of course I had never heard of him until then, but I like to pick someone to yell for to make it more interesting.
James was most excited about a foot long hot dog. He doesn't get many of those at home.

yes this picture is blurry but it makes me laugh as it is a good depiction of how the paw paws of the group felt about a late night activity.

we did head over to a place near our hotel after the game for a night cap

again, blurry but this also cracks me up as it depicts the Tucker's first night away from the twins...

after this we headed back to the hotel and were hanging in the lobby bar when James spotted BJ Upton. (Justin my new favorite player's brother) For those of you who don't know this about me, I love a celebrity spotting. Well no offense BJ, but you don't really rank high on my celebrity meter. (side note: James always spots Pro athletes, it is kind of ridiculous, everywhere we go he is like that's so and so, I never notice!) I proceed to walk up to BJ and tell him, "Oh you played a great game tonight" "So fun to watch you play". He proceeds with "No I didn't" "I had a terrible game." OOPS Did I just giveaway, I really didn't watch the game and spent most of the time walking around the stadium looking for a funnel cake. YEP.

The next morning we woke bright and early to do some shopping at Scott's Antique Market. LOVE THIS PLACE. It is so much fun! I really had fun because James went with me and believe it or not he has a great eye, and is an even better bargainer.

bought this beauty for the den, loved the colors

didn't purchase but loved the look of this piece

wanted to get one of these for my nephew Ford, so cute

fun for a party

We had a great time and shopped till we dropped or until the husbands said ENOUGH.

might have snuck in a little pampering before dinner

headed to dinner Saturday night

good friends

We ate at Empire State South, it was delish and really a fun atmosphere

another random but funny shot as Kate was telling us about her Justin Bieber decoy spotting (he was staying at our hotel and there were hundreds of screaming teenage girls outside the hotel)
Kate rode on the elevator with the "decoy Bieber" ...who knew such things existed, but he was dressed just like him and looked just like him to throw off the public

the end

Sorority Memories

In honor of Rush week at my alma mater, Auburn....I thought I would share some pictures of my years as an Alpha Gam. I was one of those people that loved rush...loved going through it, and loved it from the other side. To me it was basically one big fun week every year of forced togetherness with all of your friends. Moms came to cook amazing meals and take care of you all week, and you got to focus on learning faces, names, and singing songs and performing skits that had been performed for years...

Bid Day 2001
Happy Baby Squirrel

I also loved when rush was over and you could enjoy the fruits of your labor...great girls that became life long friends
I am also one of those people that still will see someone and think, hmm her name is Sally Jane so-and-so from Pell City, she was Homecoming Queen...and she didn't even pledge Alpha Gam
Intramural Football Champions 2004
loved loved Intramural Football, I wish they had an adult league in Selma, I am not kidding.

one of my favorite reasons for being an Alpha Gam, Molly
poor Molly, she didn't even see me coming...we lived in the same dorm Freshman year and proceeded to live together on and off for the next 7 years...I worked on her trying new things as far as eating and she worked on me not being messy. I think she turned out better than me :)

I loved formals, this was Swampwater our Spring Formal...

before Christmas formal

So excited when Laura pledged Alpha Gam, one of my favorites from Selma!

another fun thing about sorority life is going to visit other chapters, here we called the Alpha Gams at Georgia and went and spent the night in their chapter room before the Georgia/Auburn game that year

I'll leave you with this little nugget...
She might kill me, but another exciting event is Glom pictures, this was a stellar one of Molly

Heavy Heart

In the nature of transparency, it has been a tough week. Thursday one of our hygenist here at work passed away. She had a heart attack at work, an ambulance rushed her to the hospital and she didn't make it. She was 48 years old. She has two children, one of whom is 15. It has broken my heart.
One minute she was cutting up with her two patients and cleaning teeth, the next she was with Jesus.
It really makes you think. Reminds me of one of my husband's favorite verses, James 4:13-15
13Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.15Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
I am reminded to be thankful for each and every day we are given. I am reminded that the Lord's will be done. She was a a quiet constant in our office for 22 years, and will be very missed. Please join me in praying for the Dixon family during this difficult time.

Iphone Beach Pics

Sadly, we took our last beach trip of the summer this past weekend..
riding with Pie

He has figured out this boating thing...sunglasses, snacks, enjoying the ride

Lunch at Sunset Grille, silly boys

drinks at Fishers with Courtney and Ella, Shannon and Annie, and The Busters...
perfect atmosphere for the kids to run around and play with adult beverages for us
naked swinging

swimming in the bayou with Sam and Fair

Aunt Jana giving Holden a lift from the "tickers" as Lane calls the sand spurs

my favorite time is drinking coffee watching them play

Don't let that grin fool you, He got car sick on the way to AND from the beach :(
notice no padding in his carseat from all the yuck
We pulled over several times, country roads, side of 65 South, side of 98, you name it...
fun times

How is it August?!!
